Aisling Egan

BA [Hons] 3D Design Modelmaking + Digital Art

Hi there, my name is Aisling Egan. Previous to this modelmaking course I briefly studied animation, illustration and graphic design. It took me 14 years to really find the right industry for me. I have settled on modelmaking and have a special interest in environmental modelling such as modelling for animal habitats. My work is design heavy but I love making and bringing those designs to life. I work hard, am dedicated and passionate. I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labour!

Reptile habitat modular collection

The project concept:

The main idea for this particular habitat design is that it is modular, so it can be taken apart when cleaning is needed.

From that grew the idea of creating a product design/build. A system of modular pieces that carry an environmental/interactive asset that can be joined together in different ways depending on what pieces you buy. You can collect different pieces and make a unique customizable habitat landscape for your pet. Essentially it is taking the idea of terrain builds for table top gaming, but adapting it to cater for reptile habitats.

The project is a display prototype of the idea, a proof of concept. Scenes include desert-like rocks and Inca style rope bridge. Accessories include a rope cargo net, features such as water and feeding bowls and hideaway places like the tree cave.

The pieces are made from Polyurethane resin using some 3D printed elements that were molded and cast.

The ambition is to grow this idea and produce a professional product and keep designing. There are unlimited possibilities.
