The aim of this project was to investigate the experience and treatment of female individuals who are, or were involved with the Irish music industry, and if that has changed significantly over time.

4 women of varying ages and careers took part in a filmed research interview and answered questions on their experience, concerning the prevalence of sexism, a pay gap, and male-dominated roles in the industry. There was meant to be a larger number of interviewees, but this was not possible due to the sudden Covid-19 restrictions. These interviews were then compiled into an 30-minute long film.

The subjects’ answers gave insight into the different experiences of each profession and proved that the Irish Music Industry was still no exception from sexism in a professional environment, but it also showed that it has drastically improved. The interviews took place in Sound Training Productions and the Irish National Film School.
