This Practice-Based Project successfully developed a procedural system for urban creation using Houdini, specifically focusing on the city of Norilsk, Russia. The system utilized Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data to achieve detailed terrain creation and leveraged Open Street Map (OSM) for the automatic generation of buildings and other environment assets, incorporating variations in texture, scale, and orientation. The project ensured that procedurally generated assets were not only accurately placed but also optimized for memory usage, maintaining system performance and enabling efficient rendering of complex environments
The goal of this project is to leverage advanced procedural methods in Houdini to replicate the city of Norilsk, Russia, capturing its unique geographical and architectural characteristics.
