Cohesive Strangers: Developing team cohesion with CO-OP video games
This research investigated the impact of cooperative gaming on newly formed teams, focusing on success when completing tasks, and the inclusion of individual factors such as personality, group integration, and individual attraction to a group. Participants completed two questionnaires, the Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ) and the Ten Item Personality Inventory (TIPI). Participants were divided into ten teams. Results indicate that teams who completed the task successfully expressed greater feelings of belonging and perceived cohesiveness. This was reiterated by the GEQ. Strengths of this research included the importance of establishing roles within teams, and the language used by teams.
