I am a model maker and artist from Dublin. My interests lie in the human anatomy and medical realms. My skills are in sculpting, silicone work and painting and finishing. I would love to pursue a career that involves high detail and realistic silicone work.
This piece involved creating a monster clay life cast of my model's head, sculpting into this, moulding, then casting this in platinum silicone and painting, the skull section was cast in resin.
This piece has been fabricated for a theoretical film. In the story a 19th century anatomist-artist has been arrested and condemned to death for stealing body parts from a dissection room over a period of time, then fashioning them into a chess set. Upon presenting the set to his piers, students and colleagues, they decide he has lost his mind to create such a grotesque piece of art and is condemned to death for the mistreatment of the corpses he had been trusted to and for being a dangerous criminal.
The man is beheaded publicly and his head is taken for examination by a Phrenologist, a fellow anatomist colleague and students surgeons. The public gather in the surgical theatre to spectate while a section of the man's skull is removed and the phrenologist and surgeons explain what they think they see.
