Amy Carroll
This project focuses on relationships with family and friends. My paintings depict candid moments in place and time, emphasising the importance of relationships in the creation of valuable treasured memories. Family and friends are to me the very essence of life and these relationships play a fundamental role in shaping our past, present and future.

My objective was to capture candid moments from daily life interactions with family and friends. In order to capture the essence of these interactions, I amplified the colours in the source images, to produce paintings that are vibrant but also laidback. Within this project I wanted to express the importance of having family and friends as a support network, what that closeness means to me and how it has helped to shape me. The value that I place on relationships is positive and through my paintings I wanted to create a carefree happy nostalgic sentiment that seems to emanate from the characters I have depicted. In the words of Ferris Bueller 'life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while you might just miss it'.
