testing the boundaries of limitations in creativity when composing

The purpose of my project is to research and investigate if when given guidance creating, whether or not it would make me more creative. The Project involved creating 2 pieces of work, one in which I composed and produced a piece of music unbounded in terms of compositional practice and one which I followed a set of compositional requirements. Both tracks are of similar nature, and include both electronic and acoustic elements.

To What Extent Does Limitation Create Innovation in composing

The thesis aims to explore the extent that limitations have on innovation for the composer and test the end result on the listener. Creative tasks involve exploring the mind. Many would presume limitations would inhibit creativity. This study hopes to prove that limitations can enhance creativity. Limitations push an artist to search within their skillset to find an alternative, perhaps moving away from their personal habits. Departure was written with out limitations and Fall Away was written with limitations
