With the increase of digitalization and addiction to slot machines, their influence has expanded from being a localized, stationary form of leisure to a widespread digital phenomenon, particularly within mobile gaming. As a consequence, the marketing opportunities arise that bring addictive elements into online space with visual aesthetic and core mechanics. This upsurge has significantly amplified gambling’s potential to become addictive, as embedding components such as variable ratio reinforcement schedules and near-misses with unpredictable rewards have infused into the digital interfaces and gameplay. The transition to mobile platforms and the internet has not only led to more accessibility and exposure but also brought many audiences through its engagement.
