Tess Doolan Burke is a writer and director. Born in Dublin, Tess grew up in Sardinia, Italy. She returned home to Ireland to study at the National Film School in 2020. Florence is her NFS graduate project, and the culmination of four years dedicated to the development of her filmmaking craft. Tess’ work centres around the complex contradictions of human connection. Creating imaginary realities, she aims to explore the psychological extremes of our own world beyond the limitations of realism.
Florence is a character driven thriller set in a sinister unconventional world. Florence works at the Echo Grief Centre, where actors recreate memories for clients to remedy their regrets. When a young girl, Angel, auditions to be an actor, Florence’s anxieties surrounding her recent pregnancy intensify.
