Sandra Laskowska
In my work, I explore the complex relationship between faith and power using collage as a medium to deconstruct and reassemble details that often go unquestioned. The act of cutting and recombining reflects the fragmented narratives that dominate our cultural understanding of religion, inviting audiences to piece together their own interpretations of faith and morality. Religious iconography is entwined with the cold unforgiving lines of barbed wire, evoking both physical entrapment and psychological constraint. The delicate paper contrasts the cold intertwined wire which becomes a metaphor for the invisible boundaries imposed on belief, identity, and autonomy, inviting viewers to consider where devotion ends and domination begins.

Sandra Laskowska is a visual artist currently based in Wexford, Ireland. She has exhibited in **The Place Project**, IMMA Studios, Dublin (2022), **How We See**, DIVA, Dun Laoghaire (2023), **Fractal**, Powerscourt Townhouse, Dublin (2024) and **Mud Between the Toes**, Pallas Projects/Studios, Dublin (2025). As an interdisciplinary artist, Sandra creates a series of collage artworks that explore the complex and often contentious relationship between religion, authority, and manipulation within the church. By juxtaposing religious iconography with contemporary imagery, text, and symbols, her work highlights the contrast between spiritual ideals and the human tendency to exploit religion for personal, political, and institutional gain.
