Alice McQuail
‘Me Time’ is the culmination of McQuail's journey of self-acceptance. As crafting was a safe space for expression in their childhood, they emphasise the utilisation of craft in their process. Choosing familiar and comfortable techniques, McQuail chose to find reassurance and comfort in doing something outside of their craft practice they had grown up with, by doing so they found that implementing this new way of thinking and comfort to their life they could create freely. Through the meditative process of sewing and embroidery, McQuail exclaims their unconditional acceptance of their body. Using themselves as a reference, they constructed a myriad of abstracted vulvar forms in felt, cotton cloth and organza.

Alice McQuail is a Dublin based, multimedia artist. Their work explores craft making passed down through the female generations of their family. Craft circles in their youth were pivotal for McQuail's artistic and emotional development. After the passing of their Granny, McQuail sought out ways to feel connected to her, and the other women in their life, finding craft as a form comfort and relief. Using the skills passed down to them, McQuails process ranges from sewing, embroidery, painting to print making.
McQuail has recently exhibited in **In the making: Mud Between the Toes** Pallas Projects/Studios (2025), **BALLY** Stratford Lodge Hall (2025), **Cultúr**The Soundhouse (2024), **Fractal** Powerscourt Townhouse Dublin (2024).
