In this film, myself and director Michelle Sorriso, and producer Sean Macnamara, travelled to Southern Italy to capture an aging town called Pomarico through an observational lens. I followed the actuality of the locals as they talk about their struggles and difficulties as residents move away from the town for work. The film is patient and methodical in pacing, so the camera work reflects this style, using subtle movements interspersed with wide landscapes and minutely observed characteristics of a southern Italian town.
In this film, myself and director Ricards Dzerkals, followed the recovery of Jason, who tells the story of his recovery by visiting places from his past. Along the way, he relives painful moments, difficult memories, but ultimately comes out the other side and is now learning about forgiveness. For this film the camera work was primarily handheld with long reflective takes, as well as natural framing to quietly follow real events as they unfold without obvious intervention or staging.
For the television show, Stand By Wrestling, I had the opportunity to capture the excitement of a live wrestling spectacle. I worked for months with director Karl Corcoran and producer Maxim Bunea-Jivanescu, to capture the vision for this live show. The end result is vibrant and raw.
I'm a Wexford based Director of Photography, Lighting Director and Colourist. I love to work in all sorts of documentary styles, including drama recreations and docudramas. In particular, I enjoy filming observational documentaries, which was the main focus of my two final-year projects.
