This project involves the production of a three song EP, including one rock, one pop, and one house song.
The aim is for each transition from song to song to be as seamless as possible.
The project was practice-based and provided insight into how different musical genres operate.
The objectives of this project were to learn more about different music genres, to develop my creative skills by making an EP, to produce three high quality songs, and to form an answer to the research question ‘Can musical characteristics from Rock, Pop, and House be implemented into an EP to seamlessly transition through three tracks?’
I successfully developed many skills that will help me move forward on my journey in music, I produced a professional sounding three song EP, I have learned a lot about musical transitions and also what characteristics belong to certain genres, and using an online survey, I discovered that I could transition through different music genres using techniques I learned during my research smoothly, but not seamlessly.
I have played and enjoyed music all my life, learning how to play the violin, guitar, and piano through the years. I then found a passion for 'creating' music in many genres a little while before beginning my first year of college, so for my major project, I decided to make a three song EP, focusing on musical transitions through specific genres.
