Ailbhe Fearon
“As Fionn patiently awaits his inevitable end on a lonely island, an innocent voice disrupts his peace and leads him back to the beginning...”
A 4 minute animated short film Directed by Ailbhe Fearon and Muireann Mulvihill

This project originated from a desire to celebrate Irish language and culture. My creative practice often explores themes of the inner child and mortality, both of which became central to the work’s development.
Initially conceived as a pitch for The Big Pitcher 2023, the project evolved significantly. During a residency on Inis Oírr, we expanded our research and deepened our connection to the material, allowing the project to mature into a more layered and resonant piece.
I was awarded the IADT Film Fellowship for this project, recognizing its potential and supporting its continued development.
Our biggest goal was to create a project that people would be proud and excited to work on. We’re incredibly grateful for the amazing team who brought their passion and dedication to this project. Every frame of the film is an amalgamation of many people's work and advice.
I'm Ailbhe Fearon, a passionate storyteller dedicated to the Irish language and creating media for children. My goal is to write and build worlds that inspire imagination and encourage inner growth.
Over the past two years, I co-wrote and directed Anam alongside my co-director, Muireann Mulvihill. In 2023, we were awarded a residency with Áras Éanna, spending two weeks on Inis Oírr developing and expanding the world of our project.
