"My Marigolds!" is a short film about a little hedgehog going about his day, gardening and enjoying the world, when his gloves get swept away by the wind! He must explore a big and scary environment to retrieve his beloved gloves. He has to be brave, his neighbours seem much, much bigger than him. This film is hugely inspired by children's storybooks, specifically the coziness and hand drawn feel of every page.

My thesis analyses the depiction of dreams in historical and contemporary films comparing Surrealist techniques and intentions in dream representation to that of a more classic Hollywood style. Further comparative analysis of dream portrayals in animation and live-action will also be discussed. The thesis argues that while both genres may have the same intentions and goals for these dream-like sequences, the results vary hugely as do the audience's interpretation. The thesis will also examine the striking similarities between how we structure films
and our own dream patterns, along with how REM and non-REM sleep has influenced the way we format films.
