Thesis: Under the Deadly Snow: Political Allegory and National Symbol in El Eternauta
This thesis examines how the Argentine comic El Eternauta, reshapes Argentina’s science-fiction comics genre by analysing its themes of visual realism, the collective hero, and choice of the urban space. Localized in Buenos Aires being invaded by an alien invasion, El Eternauta distanced itself from most
conventional science-fiction comics by giving symbolic weight to its narrative from the real historic, political and cultural context of Argentina during the
1950s.
