This short 2D animated film follows a silent protagonist, a lonely outlaw on a mission to complete a bounty. As the film's character traverses the unwelcoming world, we encounter many of its characters and see the unique environment they inhabit.
While working on this short film, we wanted to explore the Western genre and subvert it, both visually and thematically. I wanted to push myself and develop a unique visual style for the environments of this film, different from the one that I would typically use in my own personal work. I saw this project as an opportunity to challenge myself creatively and through close collaboration.
This project solidified the direction that I'd like to work towards in the future as an artist. I've found myself falling in love with creating environments for the characters to exist within, setting the mood through colour, telling a story through character design. I have a new sense of confidence when it comes to my skill as a background artist. This year provided me with a very unique opportunity to see myself advance at a much faster pace than I would have otherwise. While the work on March of Lonely Fortunes continues, seeing the development and the work we have collectively poured into is rewarding in of itself.
Hello! I am a visual development, background and character artist with a particular interest in colour. I like to explore a variety of art styles and techniques within my work with the use of different tools. I have experience with Photoshop, Toon Boom Harmony, Procreate and TVPaint Animation. I enjoy collaborative work and love connecting with other artists. During my final year, I co-directed a short film called March of Lonely Fortunes.
