A lonely young man slips into the world of dreams to escape reality. He grows attached to this dream and its lively owner. But the idyllic dream is more dangerous than it seems and its owner more secretive than he lets on. Will he be able to return to the real world on his own, or will he be trapped in a fake paradise?
The film serves as a trailer/entry point for an ongoing project of mine that I have dubbed While You Were Sleeping, which follows the characters of Yuuto and Micah as they confront their respective forms of loneliness and isolation. The film aims to capture the and present the relationship between these two characters in its simplest form. Dreamwalker leaves many questions that the viewer can sit with and find the answers to as the project updates online through short animations and comics.
I have always struggled with the idea that I could create and direct my own film, I almost never made Dreamwalker thinking all I was good for was animating for others. I'm glad I pushed past that and now have a film I can proudly call my own, featuring characters that I hold very close to my heart.
