True conduits and False Gods

True conduits and false gods is a fantasy story about two characters searching for answers. This project serves as a trailer to a much bigger story.
One of the characters Edwina lives on a collection of floating islands but something seems to be stopping her from questioning how such a thing could be possible at all. One day the mental block breaks and memories of her life on the surface below come back to her.
She slowly find cracks in the façade and encounters things she never thought possible.
One such thing being the newly resurrected True conduit, Zia.
Down on the surface we see a character named Keegan wandering through a completely dead forest, searching for the cause of the decay of all life on the surface.

Project Objectives

-Create a world that is interesting to a viewer who doesn’t know anything about the story.
-Develop my texturing style.
-Create two distinct 3d environments that are visually interesting.
-Learn the basics of 3d character creation, a facet of 3d modelling I knew very little about before this project.
-Paint almost every single texture for this project myself, especially all the plants in the environments.

Project Outcomes

From this project I have a much better understanding of Unreal engine, I am glad to have decided to use it as I don't think I could've achieved the look I had in mind for this project without it. My aim for this project was to bring a world and characters I have been creating for years to life, I knew this project would be a challenge for me but I wanted to challenge myself to expand my knowledge as a 3d artist and to see a project to this scale to the end.
I am also glad to have made the 3d characters in this project as it was a facet of 3d modeling I had little knowledge of before this project.

Hi I’m Ash, a 3d artist focused on creating a painterly style for my work.
My passion for 3d modelling and Environment design came from my love of world building and storytelling.
I have always had an over active imagination and love creating detailed worlds.
I combine my love of traditional art with 3d modelling by using a program called procreate to paint directly onto the 3d models I create, this allows me to create a painterly style for my work.
