I transposed Bertolt Brechts' The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui into a circusesque rendition of the script. Set in 1930s Chicago the visuals are strong in the style of Art Deco, the theatrics of the style derive from the ridiculousness of the script. The scenes begin with Ui alone on his balcony, a symbol of where infamous fascists would preach their propaganda to the crowds below, Ui readjusts himself in his ill-fitting suit, practicing his poses and turns to show them off to his gang inside. Paulo Piccassos, El Guernica fit perfectly as its abstract qualities allow for interpretation that could easily or purposely bemisinterpreted by Ui.
