BA [Hons] Animation

Anthea is an artist interested in concept development, character design and 2D animation. They've worked on various films this year as a character specialist, bringing the characters from concepts into animation. She hopes to continue bringing their own projects to life too

Animation Specialist

Anthea worked as a specialist on films such as First Day, Out of the Woods, My Sister's Nature for both animation and design work. They've had the pleasure of being a part of award-winning films such as Bluelight dir. Jean-Ellis Gbessia, and stop-motion short The Toll dir. Anika O'Hagen-Ploug.
They've also worked on their own self-directed projects to help improve her character exploration and storyboarding.



Meaningful Choices: Empathy, Control and Uncertainty in Video Game Experiences

Play is a crucial way in which we relate to the world around us, how we interact with
it, and how we learn from it. ‘Meaningful play’ resonates with us as an experience that
inspires growth and change in us, and through video games as a medium, designers are
capable of offering those experiences to players. Games such as ‘The Stanley Parable’
and ‘Portal 2’ offer unique insights as to how game developers use empathy, choice
and uncertainty in order to create meaningful and long-lasting games. This thesis
explores such topics in relation to contemporary video games and the impact they have
on the player. In particular, this thesis looks through the lenses of the construction of
these games, as well as the psychology behind the thought process of the player
