Character MakeUp Design 



The ambition of final year students this year is showcased in the range of projects and diverse approaches to character design and creation.

Students have taken inspiration from diverse sources for their individual major projects. Inspirations have been taken from classic texts from the world of dramaturgy and Film and also from research undertaken in critical and contextual studies leading to thesis.

Students have approached character creation as visual storytellers with an emphasis on visualising the worlds the characters inhabit focusing on the journeys and transformations of these characters. The projects demonstrate diverse skillsets requires from initial concept designs, character illustrations, storyboarding, digital concept designs and the core technical skills using Make-up and Prosthetics. Graduates benefit from close alignment with the National Film School at IADT.

Graduates are employed in creative and cultural industries. Many gain employment in the MakeUp and Prosthetics Departments in the Film Industry, in TV, advertising, music, theatre, opera and dance industries. Graduates have also advanced to further study at Masters level in areas as diverse as MA in Design History and Material Culture, MA in Material Futures, MA in Anthropology and MA in Modelmaking and Visual Effects.
