For concept one I designed a prosthetic facial piece to show severe burns
The first flight of Icarus is a tale from Greek mythology, involving the skilled craftsman Daedalus and his son Icarus. According to the myth, Daedalus and Icarus were imprisoned.
Before their flight, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, as the heat would melt the wax, nor too close to the sea, as the dampness would weigh down the wings.
Despite his father's warnings, Icarus, exhilarated by the experience of flight, flew too high. The heat of the sun melted the wax in his wings, causing him to fall into the sea and drown.
The realistic looks are composed of burns ranging from first to third the degree.
The second look is playing with the idea of the wax wings and showing Icarus as a candle himself.
Here are two poster designs for both concepts. I wanted them to be simplistic and put your attention onto the make up itself.
Using the Greek mythology story, Icarus and his first flight I have chosen to design two concepts. One realistic and one fantasy based to illustrate my skills.
The social and political values in relation to the lgbtq+ community
I chose to look at the social and political values during the 1980’s in Dublin City. Here I examined the laws at this time as well as safe spaces and how a retaliation happened.
