Based on the idea that any endeavour has its own set of constraints, this project aimed to investigate those inherent to making music and the creative potential of their understanding and application.
Using Margaret Boden's theory that there are three types of creativity (transformative, combinatorial and exploratory), which relate to the constraints under which the creation is being done, and Robert Hasegawa's classification of the constraints present in music as a base, this project examined how each constraint has influenced musical works in the past and how their application can enhance creative outcomes via the making of a track under each one.
