My name is Emily Ryan, I am a Dublin based artist currently in my final year of a bachelor's degree in art at the Institue of Art and Design technology. As I began my journey in IADT, I was initially interested in creating paintings, drawings and other 2D images but quickly found my niche in video and photography. Through my chosen medium, I've focused on creating art pieces surrounding topics of self-realization, coping with mental illness and mental illness awareness. I produce these works through script writing, self-monologues, video and audio work.

Project Description

My current practice is about trying to communicate the daily struggle that people experience with the mental illness obsessive-compulsive disorder. My artworks show themes of feeling trapped, confined and helpless.
