Megan Bass

BA [Hons] Art

Megan Bass is an artist based in Dublin, Ireland, whose work consists of large charcoal drawings. Her work is primarily influenced by medical art while also being inspired by the concepts of death and decay and how these themes can be portrayed differently in art. She uses these themes in her own artwork as a way of exploring the complex details of the human body. She participated in the IADT Show In The Making: Navel at Pallas Projects (2024).

Medical Art

My project focuses on the human body and takes inspiration from medical art. The organic form of the human body has many influences in art as it has many complex shapes and forms, such as the various veins and muscles, and the structure of the skeleton. My work is primarily done in charcoal to achieve a sense of depth while also appreciating the details of the organic matter in the human body portrayed in my art. For my artwork I focus more on the beauty to be found in death and decay, these concepts have many different forms in art, as the human body is its own depiction of life and death.
