I'm a New Media Studies final year student who loves making videos. I've been making YouTube videos since 2017. I am passionate about sport and I'm fascinated by the media's relationship with it. From Wrestling to MMA, Football to F1. I also have a huge interest in Music and Radio Production. My goals are to work in Radio, TV and Online Content Creation.
The brief for this assignment was to make a video titled 'Every Cloud Has Its Silver Lining.' Once the video met that requirement, the only limit was your imagination.
I wanted to create a fictional film. However, as this was during the lockdown era of the pandemic, I was unable to record on location or meet up with anyone else to record scenes for the video.
So instead, I got creative and decided to draw and voice every character myself. I also used voice messages from my friends to voice the jury. This was one of my favourite assignments because in the end, I still managed to tell a story despite the obstacle of the pandemic.
The brief for this assignment was to create a video regarding the topic of 'Fake News.'
I decided to make my video about the 2011 rapture which never happened because I thought it was fascinating topic.
The idea for this video fell straight into my lap. As part of the 4th Year Media Production Module we were required to make a documentary.
My documentary was about a friend of mine who had signed up for a training program called Wimp 2 Warrior. This is a program that trains people from scratch over the course of a few months to compete in their first ever amateur MMA fight.
It was a very different type of work to what I'm used to as there was no animations or comedic elements involved. However, I was really satisfied with how it turned out.
The UFC was first founded in 1993. Upon its launch it was met with strong criticism, so much so that it was outlawed in most US states in the 1990's. In 2001 the original owners sold the company and by 2005, it was on the brink of financial collapse.
Since then the UFC has gone on to shatter PPV buy rate records, strike global television deals and sell out arenas all over the world.
My Final Year Project investigates how the UFC managed to go from the brink of extinction to a global mainstream success and more specifically, the role that Reality TV and Social Media played in the growth of the UFC's global popularity.
