BSc [Hons] Creative Media Technologies

Joseph O Ajayi is a final year student, studying Creative Media Technologies at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology Dun Laoghaire. Youth coordinator for Sickle cell and Thalassemia Ireland (SCTI) charity organization. Currently working as a receptionist at the Harcourt Hotel. Hip hop/ Afrobeats music artist, currently working with createsound.ie to organize and perform at music events in Dublin.

My project is called a struggle alarm, it is a safety device that triggers an alarm and transmits the location of the user with the click of a button as well as transmit a message to a designated receiver asking for help.
Struggle Alarm

The aim of this project is to create a safety device which helps an individual feel safe in a public or private environment.
The device will be able to send a message asking for help to their friend or family and transmit their location.
The purpose of the application is to give people a sense of safety wherever they are.
The steps involved in the construction of the system were research, design, and testing, which were carried out throughout and after implementation. Results from the testing show that the system can send a message using more than one micro:bit controller module, using one as a transmitter and one as a receiver.
Further work that could be carried out includes adding a GPS module that would be able to get the exact location.
