Interacting with Aged-Progressed Avatars To Determine Connectedness to Future Self And Financial Knowledge Awareness

This study aimed to determine whether (1) there is a relationship between a person’s connectedness (which is how connected they feel) to their future self and their interest in financial planning, (2) whether there is an increase in connectedness when a person is presented with an aged version of themselves (as you will have seen in the images above) and (3) whether there is a relationship between someone who engages with an aged-avatar and their interest in a financial planning class.

Project Objectives

I found that the participants who had seen themselves as an aged version did in fact get a higher connectedness score after the testing took place.

I also found that there was more of an interest in financial planning found in those who had seen themselves aged as well.

Project Outcomes

In conclusion, the findings from this study were consistent with that of previous research findings but do still contain more possibilities for future research in areas such as targeted audiences and a larger population sample to increase the reliability of the results.
