BA [Hons] Visual Communication Design

Hi I'm Emily! I enjoy photography, illustration and branding. I tend to bring some fun into the projects I work on with the help of colour as I am fascinated by its endless possibilities. Other things that pique my interest are surrealism, funky music and MiWadi, if you'd like to work on a future project together feel free to get in touch.

Logo and tagline.
Photography was a major part of this project, creating a minimalist but kitsch hair salon with a key element of the salon, the swivel chair.
The brown paper bag, the symbol of embarrassment. The Bad Hair Collective strives to relinquish negative feelings associated with bad hair days. We are taking off the brown paper bags for good.
The landing page of the website, features an article on The Spotlight Effect. The phenomenon that we believe others notice/perceive a lot more about our appearance or behaviour whilst in public than they actually do.

Project Overview

Connecting individuals of the hair community to remove the shame that is associated with Bad Hair Days, those days when everything goes wrong, due to one's hair being unruly. Bad hair is subjective, it is not something that should ruin your day. Have a Bad Hair Day with us and eradicate the negative feelings, and embrace what we have, don’t let things get hairy.


Black Lives Matter and Data: A Double-Edged Sword of Justice

Discussing the census as one of the biggest devices of data collection in the world, its place in history of racial inequality, and focusing my studies on the United States of America as it is the main location of major systemic racism. The particular data set I discussed is that of ethnicity data, as the exploration of this data can show the racial inequality within countries, organisations and individuals.
