Capacity

The current availability of creative venues in Dublin is at an all time low. Since the year 2000, we have lost 82% of our venues and since 2012 we've lost 56% of our venue capacity. This concerns not only music venues but also gallery spaces and DIY theatre spaces.
Current venues are strained by the financial pressure of paying high rents and smaller artists are getting squeezed out of the city.

Capacity is a pop up nomadic village of stages, exhibitions and a rave bunker which focuses on giving local artists a space to perform and put their work on show. Artists can book spaces via the website to perform to the public. This is a non-curated, free space, that gives artists room to grow, a space to fail and the capacity to thrive.

The nomadic nature of capacity allows for creativity to blossom and escape the risk of being bought over, evicted or knocked down by developers. Capacity aims to give creative freedom to smaller artists, without the infrastructural burdens we currently have in Dublin, as well as inject vibrancy in the midst of a culture crisis in Dublin.
