Miles Davis Murphy 

BA [Hons] Film + Television Production

Miles Davis Murphy is a director, screenwriter, and sound designer based in Dublin. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Miles has been writing stories and making films since early childhood. His work is primarily character-driven, exploring themes ranging from the intricacies of family dynamics to the duality of human nature.

Bestial Ones is an upcoming family drama written & directed by Miles Davis Murphy which follows a young mother's attempts to navigate her turbulent relationship with her son. A graduate film about love, sacrifice, and learning to make the difficult decision to grow.
Told through imagery, a tempestuous relationship between a father and son unfolds over a lifetime. Fathoms premiered in the inaugural First Frames competition in the Dublin International Film Festival before going on to screen at the Galway Film Fleadh and IndieCork, among other festivals both local and international.
untitled is an experimental piece made by Miles Davis Murphy & Fiachra Gallagher Lawson, inspired by the painting Alabama by Norman Lewis. The painting could be interpreted as an all consuming darkness, a visual representation of a scream, or a glimmer of hope within a void. We strived to capture the strange synergy between the differing interpretations while also emulating the textures of Lewis' brushstrokes.
Chrysalis was made during lockdown in response to a brief to create a short piece about a secret using whatever means you had available. It was filmed over the course of an afternoon. Chrysalis was selected for the 2022 First Frames competition at the Dublin International Film Festival, where it received an honourable mention from the jury.
Bestial Ones

Fiadh, a young, discontented single mother spends her days working as a home care nurse and her nights amongst the grit and grime of Dublin’s DIY punk scene. She shares a flat with her father Danny and troubled son Maithi, who is having difficulty both in and out of school. Maithi was born when Fiadh was a teenager, and as the two grew up together they also grew apart. This friction has caused Fiadh to feel restless, believing life would be better if she had her independence. When an old acquaintance returns to town, a passionate encounter presents an opportunity for escape, forcing Fiadh to choose between her child or the chance to leave everything behind and start over.
