Blaise Robinson from Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin is an Edit major with a minor in Cinematography, both fields they enjoy immensely. This year Blaise was fortunate enough to edit GRIND, a horror short film, and co-edit Into the Motherhouse, a short documentary. Through the course of the four years, Blaise has become familiar with Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe After Effects. He also has experience with Arri, Blackmagic, and Sony camera systems.
GRIND was a pleasure to edit but it proved to be a challenging endeavour, both technically and creatively, but one that was an important learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of editing fictional narratives and experimenting with different ways of telling a story.
I also had the experience of developing, researching, and co-editing the short documentary, Into The Motherhouse. Though this project was postponed, I still got to work on a non-fictional story and it was a joy discovering and finding new ways to share the incredible experiences.
I gained some very valuable familiarity with industry software while editing these projects, such as Avid Media Composer, Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, and the Adobe Suite, as well as learning more about the organisation, negotiation, and coordination that film editing demands.
