BA [Hons] 3D Design Modelmaking + Digital Art

The Department of Design + Visual Arts is delighted to present the work of the graduate class of 2021. The BA (Hons) 3D Design, Modelmaking and Digital Art encourages students to experiment with character design, world-making, animation, and visual storytelling across real, virtual, and digital environments. The broad and ambitious remit of the programme is reflected in the work of the graduating students of 2021. Despite the adversity of this academic year, the students rose to the challenge and produced an astounding spectrum of work that was truly evocative, imaginative, and profound. Their final projects showcased a diverse range of responses to the field of model making and three-dimensional design. Including environmental craftivism, 3D printing, hyper-realistic silicone sculptures, imagined worlds, animated films, props for movies, games, and street theatre performance.

In common with all programmes in the Department of Design and Visual Arts, the BA (Hons) 3D Design, Modelmaking and Digital Art programme benefits from close alignment with the National Film School at IADT. Graduates go on to work as event designers, model makers in the film, TV, theatre, spectacle arts and experience design industries, as architectural modellers, art directors, animators and character designers in the animation industry, art teachers and in the digital FX and games industries.
