Robert Bass

BA [Hons] Film + Television Production

I am a directing major, with a huge passion for the entire production process - for Film & TV alike. I have spent the last four years working on countless sets from all years, always learning from working and watching my peers. In second year I, along with a small group of friends, set up GONZO Collective - a group that is all about helping each other to create. After college I plan on pushing forward with GONZO, as well as beginning my career by creating music videos and short films.

The Tale Of Felix

Elijah is forced to leave his now ex-girlfriend, Gwen's home. But, when his fish's bag begins to leak, Elijah learns to let go of him and his girlfriend.

The Tale of Felix is a Pixar/Animation inspired short. Marrying miniatures, narration and a talking fish, it is a storybook influenced tale of one fish's will to live and his owner's struggle to maintain his safety.

Thesis: The Stages of Liminality in Coming of Age Films

Liminality is the quality of ambiguity or disorientation that occurs in the middle stage of a rite of passage, when participants no longer hold their pre-ritual status but have not yet begun the transition to the status they will hold when the rite is over. It has three stages and I chose to examine these stages in relation to coming of age films - where the journey from childhood to adolescence can be aligned with liminality's three stages.
