I'm a Dublin/Wicklow-based artist, specialising in animated and experimental filmmaking. I have a particular passion for conceptual and developmental work, and am hugely inspired by the process of artistic experimentation. I'm always eager to both broaden my sensibilities through research and interdisciplinary investigations, and to integrate this research into explorations of the limits of the projects and mediums I'm engaged with. Here, I am showcasing the trailer and process work for my graduate film, 'saudade;' which you can read about below, along with my thesis. To see a more extensive collection of my work, including various other projects, check out my Behance!
My graduate project, 'saudade;' is an experimental short film which explores the human mind in confrontation with that which exists at its own limits, and which questions the relationship between identity and memory or lack thereof. By combining a variety of different mediums and visual styles, the film attempts to capture the inconclusive and fragmented nature of a human mind in various states of being.
My thesis, titled 'The Duality of Memory According to Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris and Mirror,’ explores, through the lens of various philosophical ideologies, the dichotomous nature of the human perception of reality, according to the depictions of memory in the films ‘Mirror’ and ‘Solaris’ by director Andrei Tarkovsky.
