Mark Dupré is a photographic visual artist based in Dublin. As a student of IADT, Dun Laoghaire and the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn, Mark has developed his practice with a particular interest in the still life image. By utilising the tradition of the still life whilst exercising ideas of colour, balance and form, Dupré’s work is informed by aesthetic ideas from a multitude of origins. Group exhibitions include; “Archive”, The Copper House Gallery, Dublin, 2019 and “Mid Twenties”, Vent Space Gallery, Tallinn, 2019. Works recently published include features in “All Kinds”, 2020 and “Embracing Stillness”, Humble Arts Foundation, 2021.
Drawing aesthetic cues from Japanese ikebana floral arrangements along with the baroque visual tradition of the sublime. In the series “The Begonia Exchange” floral arrangements are reimagined with the inclusion of exotic fruits and vegetables collected from Dublin’s ethnic supermarkets as a way to highlight ideologies of globalism and the consumerist neoliberal market.
