BA [Hons] Costume Design

Hello, I’m Ciara Hogan, a Costume Designer from Carlow. I have a particular interest in designing and creating costumes for dance performances and music videos. I enjoy the process of collaborating with directors and making their vision come to life be it in film, theatre or music performance.

Burlesque

For my Major project I researched the history of Burlesque and showgirl dress. I designed the costumes for ten different performances, most with multiple dancers and chose to physically the costumes from one of my designs for the main character.



How Artists React to the Moulin Rouge

For my thesis I have explored how the Moulin Rouge inspired Artists. I discuss French painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Australian director Baz Luhrmann and how they both responded to the colourful and exotic Moulin Rouge in their own work.
