Ruby Valdez 

BA [Hons] Visual Communication Design

Hello, my name is Ruby Valdez and I'm a Filipino designer based in Dublin. I am lively and always eager to learn new skills with every project. I enjoy an array of areas in design, from editorial to motion graphics, illustration, and art direction. My strengths in these areas enable me to create bold and impactful designs that cater to user needs. Moreover, I strive to bring strong concepts into each project and make it unique.

With Salu-Salo, Filipino migrants are able to connect and bond online and meet up for meals. It is especially helpful to those who have recently moved to a new country and battling homesickness. Recent arrivals benefit from it because it facilitates safe, authentic interaction within local communities.
App onboarding and creating account.
Once the account is created, further information are filled out; food allergies, photo ID and enabling location for a more safe and authentic experience.
Creating event. Name, date, time, location, amount of food that's needed and allergies will be required when creating the event.

Joining event.
Advertising are located in public locations. These posters uses Tagalog phrases that one would frequently hear in a Filipino gathering, and are accompanied with English translations.
Promotional posters.
Recipe cards as promotional merchandise. It is used to invite people in the app and urge them to cook a traditional Filipino home-cooked meal that they could potentially bring to their next gathering.
Salu-Salo

Salu-Salo is an app for Filipino migrants to bond over communal meals, easing homesickness. It enables authentic community interaction and strengthens cultural identity through shared food experiences.

When stories and conversations are shared over familiar food, cultural identity is strengthened and unity is cultivated.
