The BA (Hons) Art is an interdisciplinary programme that emphasises practical and critical exploration, with students choosing the media and techniques most appropriate to their concerns. This year, several students have focused on painting and related forms of image-making. Some have produced large-scale works that emphasise dynamic gestures or immersive colour, while others are more focused on spatial storytelling, using cinema, fairy-tale, video games or domestic photographic archives as their sources. Many IADT Art students grapple with complex contemporary social and political issues, through their images, performances, videos and sculptural objects.

This year’s exhibition includes sculptural installations that reference modern architecture or more ancient forms of housing, ceramic structures influenced by bodily trauma, and scripted performance and video narratives investigating psychological pressures and obsessive desires.

Graduates of the BA (Hons) can choose to pursue professional pathways in the art industry, making and exhibiting art in commercial or publicly-funded contexts. They have also drawn on their practical and conceptual skills to establish practices in other areas, including creative writing and publishing, illustration, curating, event management, media production, computer programming, arts education and teaching at all levels.
