Paul Calnan 

BA [Hons] 3D Design Modelmaking + Digital Art

My name is Paul. I am a 3D artist based in Dublin. I am really interested in film production, prop making and stop motion animation. I have also got an interest in fashion especially knitting and sewing and through this project have been exploring textile design and fibre art. While doing this project I got to develop all of these interests and improve my skills as a modelmaker.

Junkyard Sculpting

I created a stop motion puppet and set. The concept for the piece was of a sculptor who creates art in the junkyard he works in. The project is constructed using a mix of felted wool elements and traditional modelmaking techniques. All the natural parts of the world such as the sky and the ground as well as the skin and hands of the puppet are felted wool while the props and background were made using a mix of materials and techniques. The puppets clothed were sewn and knitted. The puppet is fully posable and parts of the face such as the eyes are movable for animation
