BA [Hons] Character MakeUp Design

Hi my name is Róisín and I’m a character makeup design graduate. I have a broad interest across all strands of makeup ranging from beauty to theatrical to prosthetics and special effects. I am exceptionally enthusiastic about transforming an ordinary person into an extraordinary character earthed in another period of time.

Project Description

Written by Edgar Allen Poe The Murders in the Rue Morgue follows the story of the mysterious deaths of two French women. It is a hot summers night in July of 1840 where a sleeping street in Paris is awoken to the screams of a young lady. By the time anyone reaches the location of these screams two women have been murdered. No one knows who committed these heinous crimes. Each witness recalls hearing a different language being spoken,to which none of the witnesses can agree. It is not until the narrator introduces us to Auguste D'upin an extremely intelligent man that the mystery is solved and the murderer is discovered to be an orangutan. The focus of my project aimed to explore the murders of the two women in the piece while also changing the period in which the piece is set to the 1950s.
