I chose to adapt Sylvia Plath's novel, The Bell Jar for film as my major project. I used a hybrid of SketchUp models and renderings with procreate sketches to convey my final design designs. The Bell Jar is a semi-autobiographical novel by Sylvia Plath, which follows Esther Greenwood, a young woman as she experiences a mental breakdown and struggles with her identity and place in the world. Esther is a talented and ambitious writer who earns a scholarship to work at a prestigious magazine in New York City for the summer. The story's three settings - New York, the Massachusetts suburbs, and a private asylum - provide a wealth of inspiration for designing the film's world, with each location offering its own unique style and atmosphere.
