Ellen Mc Hugh is an emerging production designer from Dublin. She is passionate about working in film and theatre. She has gained valuable experience working on projects in association with the NFS, Bigger Stage and Macnas. As a Macnas Collide Artist, she thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the creation of Cón Mór and creating a sculpture of her own for the performance space, in 2022. "A Saddle for Two", a short puppet film she worked on screened at the 2023 Achill Island Film Festival as well as First Cut Film Festival. Another project she worked on, the music video for "Nightmares" by Paddy Hanna, won the 2023 Youth Music Video Competition.
For her major project Ellen designed the set for Tom Murphy's 'A Whistle in the Dark' as if it were a film adaptation of the original play. For her minor project she designed the set for a production of 'The Tempest' by William Shakespeare if it were to be shown in the Abbey Theatre.
