My name is Karen (she/they) and I'm a 23 year old creative from Dublin, Ireland. Within the digital media space, I love to do a bit of everything, from directing, producing, and researching, to recording, editing, and promoting. Through doing New Media Studies, I got the opportunity to discover, create, and explore different areas of discussion and formats and to present them in forms from video essays to podcasts. I have hopes to work in a variety of fields and disciplines now that I'm graduated and out in the world :)
The video essay aspect of my Final Year Project/Thesis. I spent a lot of time recording and editing it altogether and in the end I am very prouf of the visual piece I produced; I even thought myself how to use After Effects for the animation in it. Spoilers ahead for those who have not seen the show.
Fourth Year, Final Year Project.
An example of a piece made for the Social Media Module, where I created a brand named Kooties which was a Y2K inspired knit and crochet-wear brand. It was a lot of fun to create something cool, fun, and colourful.
Fourth Year, Social Media
The assignmnet was to make a piece about our personal response to the pandemic. I made mine about how I had to learn how to dye my own hair, and how it became a special time for me to escape. It was shortlisted for 'Stories From Isolation Exhibition' by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Second Year, Media Production.
An annotiation of a infographic telling people about shark finning. It was a very differnt but intersting assignmnet to do, and it was fun to do, as I am very passionate about this cause. Click into it to read each piece in full.

FYP: How do David Lynch and Mark Frost use post-modern subversive genreto create the narrative of Twin Peaks (1990-1991)?
Being a massive fan of Twin Peaks, I was already aware that the series was a mashup of genres, and I wanted to explore how exactly this was done, and then how it effected the narrative structure of the original series.
I really enjoyed studying narrative structure and theory throught the four years, and wanted the opportunity to explore it in my final year project.
