Based in Wexford and concerned with exploring the intersection art and mental health, Smith’s work seeks to visually capture the complex emotions and struggles that individuals face when dealing with mental health issues. Through his lens, he aims to shed light on the often-misunderstood aspects of mental health and to bring a sense of empathy and understanding. He believes that photography can serve as a powerful tool for self-expression and healing, both for himself and for those who view his work. Ultimately, his hope is that his images will spark conversations about mental health and inspire greater compassion and support for those who are struggling.

The State Of You

“The State of You” is an exploration of mental health that focuses on depression, anxiety, and depersonalization to visually express the emotional and psychological experiences of those living with these conditions. It also highlights the importance of seeking professional help and accessing appropriate treatment, while promoting greater understanding and reducing stigma. By capturing the impact of these often misunderstood and stigmatized conditions, the project can provides a platform for individuals to share their experiences and perspectives, as well as raise awareness and encourage conversations around mental health.

Catching The Still In Motion

High-speed photography is a specialized technique used to capture fast-moving objects and phenomena in stunning detail. By using high-speed cameras capable of capturing thousands of frames per second, photographers are able to freeze motion and reveal details that would otherwise be impossible to see with the naked eye.

This technique is widely used in fields such as sports photography, wildlife photography, and scientific research. It allows photographers to capture moments that happen too quickly to be seen, such as a bullet being fired from a gun or a hummingbird flapping its wings.
