Sarah Partington is based in the Chorca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht of the Dingle Peninsula. Working with a documentary-style approach to lens-based media, audio and the archive, she explores the ways in which we make sense of our selves and the world around us. Her research is currently focused on autonomy, connection and wellbeing, extending to concerns around the function of art and role of the artist. A large interest for her is the nature of the creative imagination and the capacity of arts practices to facilitate change. She strives towards cultivating a sense of reclamation, interconnection, empowerment and agency across her life and work, which she sees as symbiotic.
Foundations consists of selected excerpts from Sarah Partington’s on-going research-based project exploring the relationships between life and art, between environment and human experience, between the individual and the universal.
Pulling from her archive of documentary-style work, these excerpts show people, places, practices and phenomena that shape the artists work and life, illustrating the non-linear ways we make sense of our selves, each other and the world around us.
